Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a medical humanitarian organization with over 50 years of experience in providing assistance to people during violent conflicts, natural disasters, nutritional crises, epidemics, and other emergencies.MSF created the Emergency Relief Fund (ERF) in 1999 to help to ensure that our medical and logistics teams can launch an immediate response to crises, especially those not attracting the world’s attention. Each year, programs funded by the ERF deliver the medical care, humanitarian aid, and clean water needed to save lives, reaching hundreds of thousands of people caught in some of the world’s worst emergencies. The ERF also supports MSF’s operational independence – especially critical in armed conflicts – so that the organization can deliver need-based aid consistent with the core principles of humanitarian action.
